Who - Intermediate to Advanced surfers. Someone who is comfortable in large hollow waves and needs a board to keep pace.
When - 5-10+ ft. This board is purpose built for the good to epic days.
What - Tomo made the Hydronaut to be Firewire's go-to powerful wave board. It takes concepts from the Omni and Cymatic, but tweaks the contours, rocker, and outline to suite larger hollow waves. The outline is pulled into a tight rounded-pin for hold and control while the nose remains slightly rounded like other Tomo models. The "torpedo" nose allows quick direction changes while at high speed which yields a "safer feeling in critical situations." The bottom contour features a deep single through the side fins and out the tail to direct water in and out for increased high speed control and hold. Couple all of that with the LFT technology and you have a hard charging step-up which should be in everyone's quiver.
