What size Easy Wind should I get?
It depends on how you want to ride it, and Chris Christenson gives a guide for each. Experts: as a groveler, 3" to 4" below your height; as a mid-range board, 6" to 8" above your height. Novice to intermediate surfers: 2" to 6" above your height. As a “big guy shortboard”: 2" to 8" above your height. For example, a 6’0 surfer grovels on the 5’8 (20 3/4" x 2 7/16", 31.81 L), rides it mid-range at the 6’6 (21 5/8" x 2 3/4", 42.91 L) to 6’8 (21 3/4" x 2 13/16", 45.31 L), and as a novice or intermediate looks at the 6’2 (21 3/8" x 2 5/8", 38.41 L) to 6’6 (21 5/8" x 2 3/4", 42.91 L). What fins does the Easy Wind use?
The Easy Wind comes with a 5-fin set-up (FCS II or Futures boxes) so it can be ridden as a thruster or a quad, and Chris recommends his own 5-fin sets for it: the Christenson x FCS II Tri-Quad (Medium, Large) or the Christenson x Futures 5-Fin, a pivot-style template for quick, in-the-pocket surfing whose flat-foiled quad rears add speed and release off the top. Ride the thruster set for control in better waves and the quad for speed and drive in softer surf. FCS sizes the Christenson Tri-Quad set as Medium and Large; the Futures Christenson 5-Fin Medium suits riders of about 125 to 175 lbs.
