Wolverine Q&A
What size Wolverine should I get?
Chris Christenson’s recommended lengths are 6’2 to 7’0, and he says the length has no correlation with the rider’s height: it is more a desired choice of sensation. Go shorter, around the 6’2 (20 1/2" x 2 1/2", 35.09 L) or 6’4 (20 5/8" x 2 9/16", 37.38 L), for a livelier, more shortboard-like twin, and longer, 6’8 (20 7/8" x 2 11/16", 41.57 L) and up, for more glide and paddle power or to use it as a step-up. Stock sizes run from 6’2 (20 1/2" x 2 1/2", 35.09 L) to 7’0 (21 1/4" x 2 3/4", 45.60 L). For any length below 6’2, Chris recommends the Lane Splitter swallow tail instead. Our shop staff can help you pick a size.
What fins does the Wolverine use?
It is a twin fin, stocked with FCS II or Futures boxes. For a performance twin built to shoot sparks off the rail, use Chris’s own modern twin template: the Christenson x FCS II Twin, which gives smooth, fast down-the-line speed, or the Christenson x Futures Twin, a pivot-style template with an oversized base for drive and speed while keeping great release off the top.
What is the Wolverine?
The spicy twin-fin version of the popular Nautilus, and a favorite mid-size model of Christenson’s high-level surfers. The rocker is moderate to handle larger surf at ease, complemented by a pulled-in winged swallow tail and a twin-fin set-up to shoot sparks off the rail in fun-sized surf. It can also be used as a step-up in your board bag.
What waves is the Wolverine for?
Waist-high to overhead surf, when you are chasing more drive, speed and responsiveness than a shortboard gives you, or when you want to step up from a smaller board for powerful surf.
Who is the Wolverine for?
Experienced surfers who want a lively mid-length twin fin as a spirited alternative to a shortboard, or a more playful option than the Nautilus thruster.
What construction does the Wolverine come in?
We stock the Wolverine in PU (poly). Every Christenson board we have carried has been a traditional polyurethane/polyester build, made in America at Christenson’s factory. Each in-stock board on this page lists its construction and fin set-up.
