Surfer Rosa Q&A
What size Surfer Rosa should I get?
Chris Christenson’s recommendation is a length 0" to 2" shorter than your height; for those who prefer a longer rail, 2" to 5" above your height. For example, a 6’0 surfer looks at the 5’10 (20 1/4" x 2 1/2", 32.03 L) or the 6’0 (20 1/2" x 2 9/16", 34.29 L), or goes to the 6’2 (20 5/8" x 2 5/8", 36.10 L) to 6’4 (20 3/4" x 2 11/16", 38.17 L) for the longer-rail feel. Stock sizes run from 5’6 (19 3/4" x 2 3/8", 27.82 L) to 6’10 (21 1/2" x 3", 48.00 L). Our shop staff can help you pick a size.
What fins does the Surfer Rosa use?
It is a thruster, stocked with FCS II or Futures boxes. Chris’s own sets fit it: the Christenson x FCS II Tri-Quad (Medium, Large) or the Christenson x Futures 5-Fin, ridden as a thruster. FCS sizes the Christenson Tri-Quad set as Medium and Large; the Futures Christenson 5-Fin Medium suits riders of about 125 to 175 lbs.
What is the Surfer Rosa?
With new, improved revisions, the Surfer Rosa is a simple yet modern, unconventional design that allows for stylish performance in waist- to head-high surf. It is also a great “big boy” thruster for those with linebacker builds, with stock sizes carrying up to 48 L.
What waves is the Surfer Rosa for?
Waist- to head-high surf, where its outline lets you surf with style and flow rather than having to work the board hard.
Who is the Surfer Rosa for?
All skill levels. It suits surfers who want a modern, easy-going thruster with a stylish feel, and it is one of Chris’s go-to recommendations for bigger surfers who want a performance thruster with real volume.
What construction does the Surfer Rosa come in?
We stock the Surfer Rosa in PU (poly). Every Christenson board we have carried has been a traditional polyurethane/polyester build, made in America at Christenson’s factory. Each in-stock board on this page lists its construction and fin set-up.
