Ultra Tracker Q&A
What size Ultra Tracker should I get?
It is a mid-length, so ride it well longer than your shortboard: most shortboard riders land between the 6’10 (21" x 2 3/4") and the 7’6 (21 3/8" x 3"), going longer for more glide and trim and shorter for a more maneuverable feel. Stock sizes run from 6’8 (21" x 2 3/4") to 8’0 (21 1/2" x 3 1/4") in 2" steps. Our shop staff can help you pick a size.
What fins does the Ultra Tracker use?
The boards we stock are single fins with a single-fin box, and Chris also offers the Ultra Tracker in twin and twinzer configurations. For the single-fin box, Chris’s own templates by FCS are tuned for his mid-lengths: the FCS II Christenson Mid Tracker (7.5", 8" and 8.5"), tuned to match the drive and release of his mid-length and alternative designs, or the Christenson x FCS II Single Fin (7.5" to 9.5"), built for the smooth drive of his mid-lengths and classic shapes. Go bigger for more hold and trim, smaller for a looser feel.
How is the Ultra Tracker different from the Flat Tracker?
It keeps all the classic characteristics of the original Flat Tracker and adds performance. The upgrades are a significant convex entry for friction-free entry, a step deck that displaces foam off the nose for lower swing weight, a slightly rolled entry for easy turnability, nose and tail foiled thinner for better performance at speed, and a squashed diamond tail. Chris calls it the SS package of the Flat Tracker with more cowbell.
What waves is the Ultra Tracker for?
It works well in everyday conditions, but because it is more refined and highly tuned than the original Flat Tracker it really excels in better waves.
Who is the Ultra Tracker for?
Flat Tracker fans and mid-length riders who want the next level of performance from a single-fin mid-length, with the glide of the original and a livelier feel at speed.
What construction does the Ultra Tracker come in?
We stock the Ultra Tracker in PU (poly). Every Christenson board we have carried has been a traditional polyurethane/polyester build, made in America at Christenson’s factory. Each in-stock board on this page lists its construction and fin set-up.
