Who - The Hayden Shapes Holy Grail is for surfers who can pop up on every wave, travel down the line and are working on their turns; Hayden Shapes says it is not a beginner board. It sits a step above the Hypto Krypto for tight, critical surfing in the pocket, and experienced surfers can push it hard.
When - The Holy Grail is an everyday board for clean waist- to head-high surf. It works in most conditions, even onshore slop, as long as there is some punch in the wave to engage the tail, at beach breaks, reefs and points.
What - Volume under the chest gives it strong paddle power and a high wave count. A pulled-in squash tail with side cuts through the back half lets it turn tight in the pocket. The FutureFlex version is a 5-fin (Futures or FCSII); PU is a thruster.
