Holy Hypto Q&A
What size Holy Hypto should I get?
Haydenshapes’ guide is to ride the Holy Hypto 2" longer than your Hypto Krypto, which puts an experienced surfer at about the length of their everyday shortboard. For example, if you ride a 5’10 Hypto Krypto or a 6’0 shortboard, look at the 6’0 (20 1/8" x 2 9/16", 32.46 L). Stock sizes run from 5’4 (19" x 2 3/16", 23.61 L) to 6’8 (21 1/4" x 2 7/8", 43.40 L) in 1" steps. Our shop staff can help you pick a size.
What fins does the Holy Hypto use?
It comes with 5 fin boxes (Futures or FCS II), so you can ride it as a thruster or a quad. Haydenshapes says it is best suited to a wider-base fin to match the wider plan shape, and names its own Futures HS1 (Large) and HS2 (Medium); on FCS II, the Haydenshapes HS Tri-Quad set is the same idea: an all-round template with a longer base for speed when driving off the bottom. Ride the thruster set for control and the quad for extra speed and drive in softer surf.
How is the Holy Hypto different from the Hypto Krypto and the Holy Grail?
It is a combination of the two. It has more entry rocker, a longer rail line and a performance nose than the Hypto Krypto, so it surfs like your everyday driver with a high-performance approach, while keeping the speed and flow of the Hypto. The wide point is forward of center, which hides a lot of foam under the front foot for a larger sweet spot and great paddle power. Haydenshapes says it is ridden 2" longer than your Hypto Krypto.
What waves is the Holy Hypto for?
It is an everyday driver designed to work in waist-high to 8 ft faces, in all-round conditions at beach breaks, reefs and points.
Who is the Holy Hypto for?
Surfers progressing in ability through to advanced surfers looking for performance to match everyday waves. Reviewer Noel Salas of Surf’n’Show called it by far the best high-performance, top-to-bottom surfing he had experienced, fast top to bottom with razor-sharp turns.
What construction does the Holy Hypto come in?
Haydenshapes builds the Holy Hypto in FutureFlex, its patented construction with a parabolic carbon-fibre frame around an EPS core and epoxy glassing, which is light, strong and lively underfoot, and in traditional PU (poly). Each in-stock board on this page lists its construction and fin boxes.
