Hypto Krypto Twin Q&A
What size Hypto Krypto Twin should I get?
Haydenshapes’ guide: ride it in the same dimensions as your Hypto Krypto, or 4" to 5" shorter than your shortboard with 1 to 3 L of extra volume. For example, if you ride a 5’11 shortboard at about 28.5 L, look at the 5’6 (19 3/4" x 2 3/8", 28.43 L) or the 5’7 (19 7/8" x 2 7/16", 29.80 L). Stock sizes run from 5’0 (19" x 2 1/16", 21.50 L) to 7’0 (23" x 3 7/16", 60.21 L). Our shop staff can help you pick a size.
What fins does the Hypto Krypto Twin use?
It is a true twin with two fin boxes (Futures or FCS II) and no trailer, and Haydenshapes describes it as a performance keel-fin design. On Futures, the T1 Twin is the set Haydenshapes pairs with this board; on FCS II, a keel template like the Christenson Keel gives the drive and hold the design is built around. A more upright twin template will make it looser and quicker to turn.
How is the Hypto Krypto Twin different from the Hypto Krypto?
It feels and rides very similar to the Hypto Krypto, with the wide point set forward, high volume up under the chest and concaves that are smooth and fast, but it is a twin keel with a slightly tighter swallow tail and the fins set further back to set the tail into the wave, which brings control and smooth rail-to-rail transitions. Haydenshapes calls it a great all-round keel-fin twin that feels comfortable under your feet in all types of waves.
What waves is the Hypto Krypto Twin for?
All conditions up to 8 ft faces. With great paddle power and plenty of speed you can draw lines and flow in all types of waves, at beach breaks, reefs and points where you want to surf around the face with speed.
Who is the Hypto Krypto Twin for?
Intermediate to experienced surfers. Its versatility and forgiveness make the transition from your other boards easy, so it suits anyone who wants twin-fin speed and flow without giving up the control of the Hypto Krypto.
What construction does the Hypto Krypto Twin come in?
Haydenshapes builds the Hypto Krypto Twin in FutureFlex, its patented construction with a parabolic carbon-fibre frame around an EPS core and epoxy glassing, which is light, strong and lively underfoot, and in traditional PU (poly). Each in-stock board on this page lists its construction and fin boxes.
