Pontoon Q&A
What size Pontoon should I get?
The Pontoon carries a lot of volume, from 5’6 (22 1/4" x 2 1/2", 35.90 L) up to 6’6 (23 1/16" x 2 7/8", 50.60 L), so you can ride it at or a little above your shortboard length and still have far more float than your shortboard. A 5’11 shortboard rider usually looks at the 5’10 (22 1/2" x 2 5/8", 40.80 L) or 6’0 (22 1/2" x 2 3/4", 43.60 L), and beginners or bigger surfers should go up to the 6’2 to 6’6 for maximum paddle power and stability. What fins does the Pontoon use?
It has a single fin box in the center plus a quad set-up, all FCS II, which gives you versatility: ride it as a quad for speed, as a thruster for control, or as a single fin for an old-school cruise. For the quad or thruster, a balanced all-round set like the FCS II Performer Tri-Quad set or the Futures F6 / F8 Legacy suits it.
