What size Step Driver should I get?
…Lost says it is meant to be ridden 1" to 2" longer, at a similar width and a bit thicker, than a Driver, Formula-1 or similar high-performance board. Pro dims run from 5’8 (18.32" x 2.30", 25.00 L) to 6’5 (19.88" x 2.66", 35.50 L), and Bro dims from 5’6 (18.25" x 2.33", 25.00 L) to 6’8 (21.00" x 2.88", 42.50 L). What fins does the Step Driver use?
The Step Driver is a thruster, and we stock it with FCS II or Futures boxes. Neither FCS nor Futures lists a fin pick for the Step Driver, so we suggest the picks for the Driver 3.0 it derives from. On FCS II boxes that is the FCS II Mayhem Driver Tri (Small, Medium, Large). FCS classes the Mayhem Driver as a Carver-family fin: an elongated template with more sweep (rake), built for hold and longer, drawn-out turns. FCS sizes these fins by weight: Small 120–155 lbs, Medium 145–175 lbs, Large 165–200 lbs. On Futures boxes, Futures recommends the John John Florence Techflex (Small, Medium, Large) (a neutral template) for big or powerful waves, with the Mayhem 3.0 (Small, Medium, Large) (a rake template) as its all-around pick. Futures sizes its fins as Small 95–135 lbs, Medium 125–175 lbs and Large 165 lbs and up.
