| Board type | Easy-riding, easy-paddling performance board for groms |
| Best waves | Anything from 2 to 6 feet; it makes crowded conditions more fun and inviting, and in areas plagued with consistently tiny waves it works for even higher-level rippers as a functional grovel board |
| Built for | Kids transitioning from soft tops or oversized boards who still struggle to consistently control and perform on a full HP shortboard; built with developing young surfers in mind rather than coached-up contest rippers |
| Tail | Squash with a pronounced bump/wing in the outline |

Uber Grom Q&A
What size Uber Grom should I get?
…Lost’s advice is to ride the Uber Grom at the kid’s own height for a modest skill level, then go gradually shorter as the grom’s skills and height grow. For example, a 4’10 kid who is still building skills would start on the 4’10 (17.50" x 2.18", 20.00 L), while a more advanced grom of the same height could drop to the 4’8 (17.25" x 2.13", 18.50 L). Stock sizes run from 4’6 (17.00" x 2.05", 17.00 L) to 5’2 (18.00" x 2.28", 23.00 L). If you don’t know your volume, use the Volume calculator at the top of our …Lost 3D board builder: enter your height, weight, skill, fitness and the waves you surf, and it recommends a volume by board type, from shortboard to fish, hybrid and mid-length. Our shop staff can help you pick a size.
What fins does the Uber Grom use?
The Uber Grom is a thruster, and we stock it with FCS II or Futures boxes. Neither FCS nor Futures lists the Uber Grom, but FCS’s official …Lost fin guide pairs …Lost’s other grom board, the Mini Driver, with the FCS II KA Tri Set, which comes in a Grom size as well as Medium and Large; FCS describes it as a lively mix of drive, pivot and tail release, built for fast, explosive turns and airs, which suits the Uber Grom’s kicked tail and winged outline. On Futures, start with the smallest size of a drive-oriented template such as the Mayhem 3.0 (Small); Futures sizes its fins as Small 95–135 lbs, Medium 125–175 lbs and Large 165 lbs and up, and our shop staff can match a lighter grom with the right set.
How is the Uber Grom different from the Uber Driver?
It is the Uber Driver scaled down for kids. It retains all the easy-riding, easy-paddling performance that made the Uber Driver and Uber XL so popular with grown-ups, but in grom sizes from 4’6 to 5’2. …Lost built it with developing young surfers in mind: the wider plan shape, low entry rocker and fuller volume make a forgiving board to build skills on, while the aggressive kick in the tail and pronounced bump/wing keep performance and control.
Who is the Uber Grom for?
Kids transitioning from soft tops or oversized beginner boards who are still struggling to consistently control and perform on a full high-performance shortboard.
