Lost Surfboards: The Formula-1 (F1) Series
Who - The Formula-1 (F1) is designed for competitive and performance-driven surfers, from advanced intermediates to professionals. Originally made popular by Julian Wilson 15 years ago, this reimagined design has been refined under the feet of powerhouse team riders like Cole Houshmand and 2025 World Champion Yago Dora for surfers chasing elite speed and world-class results.
When - The F1 thrives in high-performance conditions, excelling in everything from playful beach breaks to world-class point waves like Lowers. The Round Pin is the go-to for tight-radius turns and hold in solid surf, while the Squash Tail expands the board's range into smaller, softer, "everyday" competition-type waves without sacrificing grip in the pocket.
What - A modern reconstruction based on Julian Wilson’s magic 2011 “Clown” board, the F1 has been completely updated for the modern era. It sits as a high-performance hybrid between the Driver 3.0 and the original F1 files. Key design features include:
- Refined Outline: A narrower nose at 12” and 24”, with the wide point and rail-line rocker set further back for increased balance and drive.
- Hip and Tail: More curve and "hip" in the outline between the feet. Available in a pulled-in Round Pin for bite, or a wider Squash Tail for added lift and surface area.
- Foil and Rails: A thicker centerline with a “vee” deck that tapers to fuller, more forgiving rails, providing paddle power without sacrificing sensitivity.
- Modern Rocker: Increased nose rocker ahead of the front foot to handle steep sections, balanced with slightly less tail rocker for maximum drive.
- Deep Concaves: Noticeably deep single-to-double concave through the fins, creating a pronounced rail-line curve under the rear foot for precise, tight-radius precision.
Performance Feel - The overall sensation is instant speed, lively lift, and fast, driving turns. The board initiates easily off the front foot and delivers a sharp, precise finish off the tail. It offers a "set back" feel that allows surfers to push harder through turns than a standard shortboard.
Details - We are offering standard “Pro” dimensions for average body types and “Bro” dimensions based on Cole Houshmand’s personal boards.
The Fall ’25 early release is scaled from Yago’s World Title–winning Round Pin: 6’0” x 19” x 2.50” at 29.75 liters. The Squash Tail version, modeled after Cole’s 34-liter Saquarema-winning "beast," arrives in Spring ’26.
