Mod Quad Q&A
What size Mod Quad should I get?
…Lost designed the Mod Quad to be ridden 2" to 3" shorter and a fair bit wider than a pro-style performance thruster, and the stock dims match: it runs about 3" shorter than a Driver 3.0 of the same volume. We recommend a touch more volume than your regular shortboard, since it is built for smaller, everyday surf. Stock sizes run from 5’2 (18.00" x 2.25", 22.50 L) to 6’6 (20.63" x 2.82", 41.00 L). If you don’t know your volume, use the Volume calculator at the top of our …Lost 3D board builder: enter your height, weight, skill, fitness and the waves you surf, and it recommends a volume by board type, from shortboard to fish, hybrid and mid-length. Our shop staff can help you pick a size.
What fins does the Mod Quad use?
The Mod Quad is a quad, with four fin boxes (FCS II or Futures). …Lost says it “loves a modern performance quad template, with some rake.” FCS’s official …Lost fin guide pairs it with the FCS II Mayhem Pivot Tri-Quad, in Medium or Large: the FCS II Mayhem Pivot Tri (Small, Medium, Large) fronts with the Mayhem Pivot quad rears (Medium, Large). FCS sizes these fins by weight: Small 120–155 lbs, Medium 145–175 lbs, Large 165–200 lbs. Futures doesn’t list this model, so on Futures boxes use a rake template as a quad: the Mayhem 3.0 5-Fin (Medium, Large), Matt Biolos’s signature rake template, ridden with its two side fins and two quad rears. If you want a dedicated quad set, the F4, F6 or F8 Legacy Quad is Futures’ neutral, all-around quad. Futures sizes its fins as Small 95–135 lbs, Medium 125–175 lbs and Large 165 lbs and up.
