We recommend your regular shortboard volume, or a touch more if you want it for smaller surf. The Pro dims sit close to a standard performance shortboard: comparing …Lost’s stock dims, a Griffin is about the same length as a Driver 3.0 of the same volume. Stock “Pro” dims run from 5’5 (18.00" x 2.27", 23.00 L) to 6’6 (20.25" x 2.70", 37.00 L), and fuller “Bro” dims, from 5’8 (27.00 L) to 6’6 (39.00 L), are available by request. What fins does The Griffin use?
The Griffin is a thruster, and we stock it with FCS II or Futures boxes. Neither FCS nor Futures lists a fin pick for this model. For …Lost’s other performance shortboards, the Driver 3.0 and Formula-1, both brands recommend a raked, drive-oriented template, and that is what we suggest here. On FCS II boxes that is the FCS II Mayhem Driver Tri (Small, Medium, Large). FCS classes the Mayhem Driver as a Carver-family fin: an elongated template with more sweep (rake), built for hold and longer, drawn-out turns. FCS sizes these fins by weight: Small 120–155 lbs, Medium 145–175 lbs, Large 165–200 lbs. On Futures boxes it is a Rake fin (drawn-out turns, drive): the Mayhem 3.0 (Small, Medium, Large), Matt Biolos’ signature template, or the R-series Blackstix (R4, R6, R8). Futures sizes its fins as Small 95–135 lbs, Medium 125–175 lbs and Large 165 lbs and up.
